The Miles Sand & Gravel Company (Miles) is seeking an experienced Quality Control (QC) Technician. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, methodical professional with the experience necessary to monitor product performance and take our products to the next level in terms of safety, security and accuracy.
The ideal candidate should be capable of the following essential tasks;
Follow established quality control procedures to test and monitor production of Miles manufactured concrete and aggregates to assure consistent compliance with desired specifications. Testing will be in the field at various project locations and at Miles facilities.
Understand, analyze and interpret test results and be capable of communicating test results and variances to managers and supervisors.
Follow procedures to troubleshoot concrete and aggregate problems and assist with identifying the cause of the problem and recommend solutions.
Work with production and sales staff to keep abreast of current techniques, technology and value-added products that will enhance both the performance and cost effectiveness of our products as well as assure our position as an innovative leader in our industry.
Work with industry associations and various other specifying agencies, architects and engineers to monitor any proposed changes and to offer practical solutions.
Work closely with sales staff to compile and present product submittals in a timely manner.
Know the basic performance characteristics of concrete and chemical admixtures, have a basic understanding of batch plant and aggregate operations and be capable of interpreting batch weights and data.
Have the ability to calculate volumes, unit weights and yields.
Analyze existing and future sources of materials and develop a range of cost effective, high performance products.
As a Miles QC Technician, you will be present for deliveries to critical projects you are assigned to.

Excellent in MS Office.
Be physically capable of performing job tasks including safely lifting and transporting test equipment and samples.
Have the ability and desire to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Have a valid WA State Driver’s license with a clean and insurable driving record and be capable of maintaining a clean and insurable driving record.
Required Education and/or Experience;
Experience as a QC Technician in the Concrete or Aggregates industry is highly desired.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
ACI Certification for Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or better.
