NE NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENTS

Green Infrastructure projects are an important, effective way to hold storm water on-site and keep it from carrying toxic materials into our waterways. Managing storm water where it originates also reduces the volume of water that flows into our streams, decreasing the chance of localized flooding. In total, this project resulted in the transformation of 28,874 square feet of impervious surfaces to pervious. The change is projected to keep 687,000 gallons of storm water from entering the storm system year after year. Beyond being environmentally friendly, the pervious concrete roadway greatly reduced life cycle costs versus asphalt pavements. This is critically important in a time of stringent infrastructure budgets.
