Miles Sand & Gravel Company is looking for an experienced Area Sales and Operations Manager to oversee the company’s aggregate sales and operations in Whatcom County, Washington. What You’ll Do:
- Sales/Marketing: Develop sales/marketing strategies & goals, communicate with customers, interpret plans and specifications, prepare and deliver material quotes and submittals to company standards and promote community involvement to increase brand visibility.
- Operations: Ensure day-to day operations run smoothly and efficiently, oversee lower-level employees including compliance with organizational guidelines and all safety/health requirements.
- Human Resources: Recruit, hire, and direct training of new staff. Manage employee schedules, wage and performance reviews, ensure compliance with company rules, and manage disciplinary actions as may be required.
- Budgeting/Forecasting: Manage budgets, optimize expenses and increase profitability. Make recommendations to management on improvements and capital expenditures.
- Data Analysis: Analyze sales data, market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth while increasing efficiency and margins.
- Regulatory Compliance: Competent in regulations related to aggregate and mining operations (DNR, MSHA, OSHA, NWCAA, DOE, etc.).

What We’re Looking For:
- Be forward thinking, highly organized, efficient and effective at coordinate numerous tasks, strong leadership and communication skills.
- Capable of working as a member of a team with managers and employees in all aspects of the company.
- A 4-year degree – preferably in Business, Mining Engineering, CIM – Concrete Industry Management, Construction Management, Project Management, Operations Management or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of increasing managerial & supervisory experience in the Aggregate Mining/Production and/or Ready Mix industry is preferred. Experience with Fabrication, Aggregate Processing and Technology is highly desired.
- In lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of increasingly responsible relevant work experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
