Concrete Batch Plant Operator

Job Description:

The Miles Sand & Gravel Company (Miles) is seeking an experienced and safety-oriented Concrete Batch Plant Operator to join our team.

The ideal candidate should be capable of the following essential tasks;

• Verify each load for yardage, mix, added products and all other quality information.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Receive and inspect raw materials.
• Keep required records and logs.
• Oversee the cleaning of the ready mix plant.
• Monitor inventories in the plant (cement, flyash, admixtures).
• Thorough working knowledge of computer/batching system.
• Identify problems, collect data and communicate with management.
• Operate the aggregate retail yard, front end loader, fork lift, handle cash and ticket retail sales.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & attributes;

• A self-starter who can 1) work independently, diligently and responsibly with minimal supervision 2) work as a member of a team  3) manage their time wisely  4) multi-task  5) meet a deadline.
• Have basic mechanical working knowledge of a ready mix plant to perform minor repairs on the equipment and then report larger repairs to the appropriate parties.
• Be physically capable of performing job tasks including safely lifting equipment.
• Strong work ethic, the ability and desire to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Excellent communication skills needed.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, 10-key and basic math skills.
• Honest, responsible and trustworthy with confidential information.
• The ability to represent the company in a professional and ethical manner.

Required Education and/or Experience;

• 2+ years’ knowledge of the concrete business.
• 2+ years’ experience batching/maintaining a ready mix batch plant.
