Driver – Lowboy

Job Description:

The Miles Group of Companies is looking for a Lowboy Driver.  The Driver in this position will deliver Miles equipment and machinery between intercompany locations as well as to/from Miles locations to/from vendors and suppliers.

The ideal candidate should be capable of the following essential tasks;

• Safely and efficiently drive and operate well maintained lowboy and other trucks.
• Delivering equipment to plants, pits, shops, and job sites in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe truck, trailers, and equipment.
• Perform daily inspections of truck, trailers, and equipment.
• Confirming cargo is safely and properly loaded and secured, axle weights are correct, and not overloaded.
• Follow all State and Federal regulations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and required documentation.
• Maintain a safe working environment while observing and abiding by all safety laws, policies and regulations including, but not limited to, those from the Miles Companies, MSHA, OSHA and DOT.
• Proficient with e-logs and/or log books, record keeping, permitting, state laws, and working with pilot vehicles.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes;
• Flexible as overtime may be required.
• Interstate capable as driving across state lines may be required to pick up new equipment.
• Clean, insurable driving record.
• Be able to listen, follow directions, and communicate with dispatcher, co-workers, and customers in a diplomatic and professional manner.
• General knowledge of Puget Sound area a plus (King, Pierce, Thurston, Lewis, Mason, Kitsap, Snohomish, Skagit, Island and Whatcom Counties).
• Able to handle working in adverse weather conditions.
• Drug free.
• A self-starter who will 1) maintain a positive attitude, 2) work as a member of a team and the ability to promote the benefits of working together as a team, 3) work independently, diligently and responsibly with minimal supervision, 4) manage time wisely, 5) multi-task, prioritize and sustain focus, 6) meet a deadline, and 7) be held accountable.
• Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner.

Required Education and/or Experience;
• Minimum education required is a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Two years of heavy-haul and/or lowboy experience preferred.
• Must have and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license Class A with air brakes and maintain a current medical certificate. Double and triple trailer endorsement preferred.
